The opening shot consists of about
six computer generated kaadus (two-legged beasts) being ridden through
a misty Naboo swamp. Peko-pekos fly overhead.
The Queen's ship can be seen here,
her chrome hull gleaming in the Tatooine desert sunlight. A herd of undomesticated
dewbacks is to her left. Someone is walking in front of the ship (possibly
Obi-Wan who stays behind with Captain Panaka while the others go to Mos
Espa).
This shot shows a sweeping view
of Theed, the capital city of Naboo. The palace dominates this shot, and
waterfalls can be seen in the background as some fighters of some kind
(possibly Sith fighters) fly overhead. Battle tanks can be seen in the
courtyard, and possibly a STAP on the right. This may be after the battle.
We see here Queen Amidala clad
in royal red garb, peering out the window of one of the palace's great
halls. As this shot fades away, the breathing of Darth Vader can be heard
in the background.
This is a first-person view from
the cockpit of Anakin's pod in the heat of the pod race. The large turbine
engines pulling the pod stretch out in front, with an arc of energy possibly
tethering them together. The arch-filled canyon is reminiscent of Beggar's
Canyon.
Anakin overtakes Mowhonic
(the Gran), who's flying the pod with the big x-shaped engines.
This is Queen Amidala in a ceremonial
dress and make-up when she visits Palpatine. She sits on the couch in Palpatine's
quarters. Palpy is the one passing in front of the camera.
Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Jar Jar in
a Gungan submarine on their way to Otoh Gungaw. Jar-Jar screams something
like "Outside!" They're probably panicking because of the sea monster.
Side shot of the submarine, lights
on, about to be attacked by a large underwater creature with luminescent
spots, tri-partate jaw, and yellow eyes. The submarine looks like a fat
stingray.
Obi-wan spinning his blade like
a helicopter in front of him. Obi-Wan rocks!
The queen’s ship escaping from
a large Federation battleship. Open ship hangars can be seen at the ends
of the battleship's "arms". As the queen's ship flies by, there are clearly
two people in the cockpit.
Naboo guards firing on an unseen
enemy that would be where the audience is, and others escorting a figure
behind a marble pillar. The enemy blaster bolts are red, and those of the
Palace Guards are green.
Watto, the slave owner. (get out
the Raid!) He's probably in his Junk Shop, because you can see junk behind
him.
This shot is hard to make out.
Large MTTs chasing Qui-Gon and various animals through the forest.
Jar Jar inspecting something on
the ground standing up to be unexpectedly caught in the energy tether between
two pod engines. His ears fly straight back, and he jerks back and hops
around after getting out of it, yelling and hooting the whole time.
The queen’s ship heads to Coruscant.
JarJar, Qui-Gon, and the queen
walk around Mos Espa. The new elephant alien in the Cantina from the Special
Editions leads a Dewback behind them.
This is Anakin, probably in the
slave Quarters. It could be when he arrives there with the others to show
them his house.
Mace Windu: "You refer to the prophecy
of the one who will bring balance to the Force? You believe it’s this boy?"
Heavy Coruscant traffic is visible
behind Mace.
Anakin looks at his mother across
the dinner table.
Qui-Gon: "He can see things before
they happen."
Obi-Wan looks at Anakin at some
sort of ceremony. The queen, Jar Jar and Palpatine are also there, with
others behind them. In the theatre version, you can see General Ceel (the
Gungan) behind Palpatine.
Shmi Skywalker, sitting at the
dinner table, says "He can help you." (Shmi, Jar-Jar, Qui-Gon, R2, Padme
and Anakin are present.)
Shmi strokes Anakin’s face, to
console him.
Qui-Gon says, "The Force is unusually
strong with him," during Shmi's and Qui-Gon's discussion at the gate of
the slave quarters about Anakin's future.
Shmi: "He was meant to help you."
(also during the conversation at
the dinner table)
Qui-Gon (in front of the Queen’s
ship on Tatooine), "Anakin!"
Shot of Qui-Gon fighting Maul,
only one end of Maul’s saber is extended.
Qui-Gon: "Tell them to take off!"
Tearful Anakin facing Shmi,"Will
I ever see you again?"
Shmi: "What does your heart tell
you?"
Padme, with Jar Jar behind her,
approaches and asks: "Are you sure about this? Trusting our fate to a boy
we hardly know?"
Shot of Qui-Gon inside Anakin's
house. The kitchen is in the background, and you can see the dried frogs
hanging from the ceiling (common food in Mos Espa, at least in the slave
quarters).
Anakin waving to the huge stands
full of people there for the pod race. Anakin is behind his pod, the turbines
of which are set up with pointy tips (which deflect the engine's flames).
On the left, you can see the big 'gate' that we also saw in the storyboard
of the radio reporter looking down on the arena.
R2, Qui-Gon, Anakin, and Obi-Wan
sitting on the floor of the Marie Celeste.
Qui-Gon: "Anakin Skywalker, meet
Obi-Wan Kenobi."
A very cool moment!
Obi-Wan nods in greeting, R2 bleeps.
Naboo N-1 in flames hurtling toward
a Trade Federation battleship.
Yoda, seated in a red Jedi Council
chair. Looks considerably younger…with a lot more hair. Especially wide
eyes.
"I sense much fear in you"
Shot of Anakin standing before
the whole Jedi Council. The windows in the Jedi Council tower open out
to a scenic view of Coruscant and all of its traffic. Visible on the Jedi
Council are: Yoda, Ki Adi Mundi (to Yoda's right), Adi Gallia (to Mundi's
right), Yarael Poof (The guy with the long neck and small head), Mace Windu,
some other small person (probably Yaddle), Saesee Tiin (we think) to Yaddle's
right, and others. The person to Yarael's right has horns on his head,
so that could make him Eeth Koth.
Blast doors (somewhere on Naboo)
open on a cloaked figure. Darth Maul!
Obi-Wan: "The boy is dangerous,
they all sense it. Why can't you?"
Obi-Wan following Qui-Gonn with
Coruscant skyline in background. They're walking outside. This is after
a session with the Council. Night has fallen over Coruscant. Notice Anakin
and R2 on the left.
Qui-Gonn holding green saber at
the ready, probably just before he starts the duel with Maul in the hangar.
Obi-Wan isn't there yet.
Yoda: "Fear is the path to the
dark side!"
Obi-Wan settling himself with lightsaber
at the ready. It looks purplish for some reason, but it's actually blue.
Yoda: "Fear leads to anger, anger
leads to hate, hate leads to suffering!"
Yoda is explaining these things
to Anakin (9-year-old kid), hence the tone of his voice.
Someone puts their hands on Anakin’s
shoulders as he solemnly blinks in another scene with a dark background.
It's probably Obi-Wan.
Yoda finishes his quote with a
drooping of his ears.
Darth Maul, same location as before,
with red saber extended; he presses a button and a second shaft emerges.
Anakin's pod screams at the camera.
Sebulba looks at camera and laughs
like a horse would. He's standing near the engines of Anakin's pod. Probably
at that moment, he's just sabotaged the engines (which explains the laughing).
The Queen in white makeup and ornate
headdress turns to look at camera. It's the same red dress as in the first
shot. This is at the start of the movie. She's probably sitting on her
throne.
Darth Maul fends off an attack
from Obi-Wan AND Qui-Gonn, and grimaces.
N-1's attacking a target.
Anakin in cockpit in goggles looking
over the battle
Droid fighters attack head-on (they
look like smoothed-out TIE interceptors).
R2 with C3PO’s bottom half visible.
See-Through Threepio!
Scores of battle droids turn right
to face.
Shot of the battle droids by the
huge Transports mentioned earlier. They're gathering in the plains outside
Naboo just before the invasion. In the foreground, you can see an army
of Gungans facing them. The CG textures may not be fully completed in this
shot.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan (in the Generator
shaft) leap and flip respectively across a gap from a control area to a
ledge to meet...
...Darth Maul on the ledge with
both ends of his saber extended.
Battle droid on STAP comes flying
down from upper left to lower right in forest shooting at Obi-Wan.
Trade federation battleship satellite
dish blows up in HUGE explosion. Two N-1s may be consumed in the backwash.
The title and credits are self-explanatory.
